Defense of a Master’s Thesis by Hiam Ghannam in the physics program

Researcher Hiam Hashem Ghannam, a student in the master's program in physics at the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the Arab American University, has defended her thesis titled: "Cadium Selenide-Based Photovoltaic Systems Approved for Optoelectronic Applications."

The present study aims to improve the optical properties of CdSe thin films by coating them on highly conductive SiO2 substrates. CdSe thin films were deposited using thermal evaporation techniques on conductive SiO2 substrates under a vacuum pressure of 10-4 mbar. Stacked layers of SiO2 films containing gold nano-sheets were used. (SAS)

Defense of a Master’s Thesis by Zahraa Sarsour in the Quality Management in Health Institutions Program

Researcher Zahraa Mohammed Sarsour, a student in the Master's Program in Quality Management in Health Institutions at the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the Arab American University, has defended her thesis titled: "Using Lean Six Sigma to Improve Patient Flow in the Emergency Department at the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah."

The present study aimed to improve the performance of the emergency department through "Lean Six Sigma" methodologies, analyze the impact of waiting times on patient satisfaction, identify the underlying causes of congestion, as well as improve the experience of employees and patients.

Defense of a Master’s Thesis by Ghadi Amarneh in the Quality Management in Health Institutions Program

Researcher Ghadi Mohammad Amarneh, a student in the Master's Program in Quality Management in Health Institutions at the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the Arab American University, has defended her thesis titled: "Improving the Rate of Adherence to the Surgical Checklist in Orthopedic Surgeries at the Palestine Medical Complex Using the Lean and Six Sigma Methodology."

The present study aimed to improve the rate of adherence to the safe surgical checklist in orthopedic surgeries, measure the impact of the "Lean Six Sigma" methodology on patient safety, and evaluate the relationship between adherence to the safe surgical checklist and improving the quality of services and patient safety.

Defense of a Master's Thesis in the Intensive Care Nursing Program at the Arab American University

Researcher Khaled Yousef Saabi, a student in the Master's Program in Intensive Care Nursing at the Arab American University, has defended his thesis “titled Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practice Regarding the Use of Physical Restraints among ICU Nurses at Palestinian Hospitals in North Area of West Bank”.

This study aimed to assess nurses' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding the use of physical restraints in intensive care units in hospitals located in the northern West Bank. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires in which 180 nurses from intensive care units in public hospitals participated regarding perception, attitudes, knowledge, and nursing practices in applying physical restraints.

The data were analyzed using T-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis.

Defense of a Master's Thesis in the Commercial Law Program at the Arab American University

Researcher Perla Anton Saba, a student in the Master's Program in Commercial Law at the Arab American University, has defended her thesis titled: "The Civil Liability of the Bank for the Use of Electronic Payment Cards".

The study aimed to identify the legal system of the bank's civil liability for the use of electronic payment cards in Palestinian law.

The researcher used the descriptive analytical approach by tracking topics related to the bank's civil liability for the use of electronic payment cards, and analyzing the legal texts related to them in Palestinian law, while reviewing the jurisprudential opinions and judicial rulings on the subject of the bank's civil liability for the use of electronic payment cards.

Defense of a Master's Thesis by Mona Fares in the Adult Nursing Program

Researcher Mona Sayel Fares, a student in the Master's Program in Adult Nursing at the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the Arab American University, has defended her thesis titled: "Nurses' Knowledge and Awareness of Postoperative Wound Care for Open Heart Surgery Patients in Hospitals in the North West Bank - Palestine".

The study aimed to assess nurses' knowledge and awareness of postoperative wound care for open heart surgery patients in hospitals in the North West Bank – Palestine. As for the methodology, a descriptive quantitative correlational cross-sectional study was conducted in the departments of the surgical intensive care unit in five hospitals in the North West Bank. A total of 87 surgical intensive care unit nurses participated in the study.

Discussion of a doctoral thesis in the Educational Administration Program for the student Nibal Hamati

Researcher Nibal Jubran Hamati, a student in the doctoral program in the field of Educational Administration at the College of Graduate Studies at the Arab American University, discussed her thesis entitled: "The prevailing organizational climate and its relationship to job performance among teachers of the general Arab secondary stage in the Palestinian interior: examining job satisfaction as an intervening variable."

The study aimed to investigate the reality of the prevailing organizational climate in its dimensions (organizational structure, leadership style, communication style, participation in decision-making, work style and procedures, technology, organizational conflict), and its relationship to job performance among teachers of the general Arab secondary stage in the Palestinian interior, and examining job satisfaction as an intervening variable from their point of view.

Researcher Raghda Mohammad Masalha, a student in the doctoral program in the field of Educational Administration at the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the Arab American University, has defended her dissertation titled: "The Educational Partnership between School and Home and its Importance in Developing Social and Emotional Learning in the Palestinian Occupied Lands and East Jerusalem: A proposed Model."

The present study aimed to reveal the opinions and attitudes of parents and teachers in the Palestinian occupied lands and East Jerusalem regarding the educational partnership and its importance in developing social and emotional learning among children in kindergartens. The researcher sought to identify the differences between the opinions of the two parties according to the variables of economic level, the number of years of education for parents, and the number of years of experience and academic degree for teachers.

Defense of a Master's Thesis by Mohammad Deeb in the Computed Tomography and MRI Sciences Program

Researcher Mohammad Fayez Deeb Abu Al Rub, a student in the Computed Tomography and MRI master's program at the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the Arab American University, has defended his thesis titled "A comparison between colonoscopy and colon CT in the detection of colon and rectal tumors."

The study focused on revealing the sensitivity of the CT device in finding colon and rectal lesions in Palestinian hospitals. The researcher recommended the necessity of adopting the use of international protocols in colon imaging due to their high sensitivity in detecting these lesions, given the study that says that there is a defect and weakness in the current protocols used in Palestinian hospitals, and this leads to poor diagnostic results.
