Defense of a Master’s Thesis by Arifa Abu Karsh in the Adult Nursing Program

Researcher Arifa Misbah Abu Karsh, a student in the master’s program in adult nursing, has defended her thesis titled “Effectiveness of Structured Education on Patient’s Knowledge and Practice Regarding Colostomy in West Bank.”

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a structured educational program on patient knowledge and practice regarding colostomy care in the West Bank. The researcher used a quasi-experimental study design (pre-test and post-test) to achieve the objectives of the study. The sample consisted of 37 adult male and female patients, who had a colostomy operation, as a non-probability convenience sample for this study. The samples were taken in surgical and medical outpatient clinics and oncology clinics in governmental and private hospitals in the West Bank.

The Arab American University and the Istishari Hospital in Amman Sign a Cooperation Agreement to Train Medical Students

As part of its constant efforts to develop the field of medical education, enhance health care, and prepare and qualify medical personnel, the Arab American University and the Istishari Hospital in Amman / Jordan signed a cooperation agreement. This agreement aimed at training medical students enrolled at AAUP on its Ramallah and Jenin campuses. This is for the sake of improving the provision of therapeutic and preventive medical services and preparing as well as qualifying medical staffs.

The Arab American University was represented by the Vice President for the Ramallah Campus, Professor Mohammad Asia, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Malik Zaben, while the Istishari Hospital was represented by the General Director, Dr. Tariq Al Lawzi, and the Medical Director, Dr. Mahmoud Abu Obeila.

Researcher Alaa Abdullah Al Ghorneh, a student in the Master’s program in Contemporary Public Relations, has defended her thesis titled “Media Frameworks for Palestinian Digital Human Rights Organizations in Highlighting Meta’s Policies for Blocking Palestinian Content in (2022-2023).”

This study aimed to clarify the media frameworks used by Palestinian human rights organizations concerned with digital rights, and to know the nature of their messages directed to the public when dealing with the violations committed by the Meta administration against Palestinian digital content. It also aimed to identify the most important mental and emotional appeals that these organizations use when communicating with the public.

Effectiveness of Structured Education on Patient’s Knowledge and Practice Regarding Colostomy in West Bank.

هدفت الدراسة إلى فحص فعالية برنامج تعليمي منظم على معرفة المريض وممارستهم فيما يتعلق برعاية فتحة القولون في الضفة الغربية. واستخدم الباحث تصميم الدراسة شبه التجريبية (الاختبار القبلي والبعدي) لتحقيق أهداف الدراسة، وتكونت العينة من 37 مريضاً بالغاً من الذكور والإناث كعينة ملائمة غير احتمالية لهذه الدراسة والذين أجريت لهم عملية فتحة القولون، والتي اخذت في العيادات الخارجية الجراحية والطبية وعيادات الأورام في المستشفيات الحكومية والخاصة في الضفة الغربية. ووظف الباحث الاستبيان لتقييم معرفتهم وممارستهم فيما يتعلق برعاية فغر القولون.

Defense of a Master’s Thesis by Hassan Musleh in the Adult Nursing Program

Researcher Hassan Hikmat Musleh, a student in the master’s program in adult nursing, has defended his thesis titled "Association between Stress, Anxiety, Depression and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) among Students in a Palestinian University: A Cross-Sectional Study".

This study aims to identify irritable bowel syndrome, depression, anxiety, and stress as well as the relationship between them among Palestinian university students. The researcher used a cross-sectional quantitative analytical design, for a sample of 372 university students from 13 faculties at the Arab American University in Palestine, and they filled out a self-questionnaire containing the Rome 4 criteria for diagnosing irritable bowel syndrome, and a depression, anxiety, and depression scale tool.

Researcher Batoul Ahmed Hamad, a student in the Master’s Program in Strategic Planning and Fundraising, has defended her thesis titled "Enhancing Corporate Social Responsibility Practices and Their Impact on Sustainable Development in The Banking Sector in Palestine".

This study aimed to assess the degree of application of social responsibility in the banking sector in Palestine, and its impact on sustainable development. A quantitative approach was followed to answer the research questions and test hypotheses to summarize the dimensions of enhancing corporate social responsibility practices and their impact on sustainable development in the banking sector in Palestine. The researcher relied on the questionnaire instrument.

The Arab American University and Sama Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Company Sign an Agreement of Partnership and Strategic Cooperation

The President of the Arab American University, Professor Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sama Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Company, Engineer Dr. Mahmoud Al Zalmot, signed an agreement of partnership and strategic cooperation between the two parties. This agreement aims at supporting the efforts paid to find harmony between educational outcomes and the needs of the Palestinian market, as well as adopting initiatives and ideas for pioneering projects that support innovation in Palestine.

The signing ceremony, which was held at Sama Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Company’s headquarters in Nablus, was attended by the AAUP Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muayad Abusaa, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Hatem Hijaz, and the General Manager of Sama Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Company, Dr. Adeeb Al Saifi.

الجامعة والمستشفى الاستشاري في عمّان يوقعان اتفاقية تعاون لتدريب طلبة الطب البشري

في إطار جهودها المستمرة لتطوير مجال التعليم الطبي وتعزيز الرعاية الصحية وإعداد وتأهيل الكوادر الطبية، وقعت الجامعة العربية الأمريكية والمستشفى الاستشاري في عمّان/ الأردن اتفاقية تعاون تهدف إلى تدريب طلبة الطب البشري الملتحقين بالجامعة في حرميها برام الله وجنين، بغرض تحسين تقديم الخدمات الطبية العلاجية والوقائية وإعداد وتأهيل الكوادر الطبية.

ومثّل الجامعة العربية الأمريكية نائب رئيس الجامعة لحرم رام الله البروفيسور محمد آسيا، وعميد كلية الطب البشري الدكتور مالك زبن، بينما مثّل المستشفى الاستشاري المدير العام الدكتور طارق اللوزي، والمدير الطبي الدكتور محمود أبو عبيلة.

ويشمل نطاق الاتفاقية اعتماد المستشفى الاستشاري في عمان كمركز تعليمي وتدريبي لطلبة كلية الطب البشري في الجامعة العربية الأمريكية، حيث سيتم توفير الأخصائيين من الأطباء حملة المؤهلات والخبرات لأغراض التعليم والبحث العلمي والتدريب. كما سيتم تنسيب الكوادر لحضور ورش العمل والمؤتمرات والدورات التدريبية التي ينظمها كل من الطرفين.

ناقشت الباحثة الاء عبد الله الغورنة الطالبة في برنامج الماجستير في العلاقات العامة المعاصرة رسالتها الموسومة ب: "الأُطر الإعلامية للمنظمات الحقوقية الرقمية الفلسطينية في إبراز سياسات حجب المحتوى الفلسطيني لدى ميتا لعام (2022-2023) ".

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى توضيح الأطر الإعلامية التي تستخدمها المنظمات الحقوقية الفلسطينية المهتمة بالحقوق الرقمية، ومعرفة طبيعة رسائلها الموجهة للجمهور عند تناولها الانتهاكات التي تمارسها إدارة ميتا تجاه المحتوى الرقمي الفلسطيني. كما هدفت إلى التعرف على أهم الاستمالات العقلية والعاطفية التي تستخدمها هذه المنظمات عند تواصلها مع الجمهور.

The AAUP Faculty of Medicine Announces Launching Preparations for the Second Summer Session at the Universities of Oxford and Dundee in Britain

The Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University has announced the launch of preparations for the second summer session at the Universities of Oxford and Dundee in the United Kingdom.

The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Malik Zaben, explained that the academic and administrative staffs receive applications from students interested in the course and nominate a number of them to participate through a specialized academic committee and within international standards. Forty five male and female students have been selected to attend this course in Britain.
