Defense of the First Thesis in the Ph.D. Program in Educational Psychology by Student Tamara Musleh

Researcher Tamara Musleh defended the first thesis in the doctoral program in the field of educational psychology, entitled: “The Effectiveness of a Training Program Based on Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL) Skills in Enhancing Psychological Immunity and Positive Thinking among Palestinian University Students.”

The study was applied to a sample of students enrolled at Dar Al-Kalima University in the city of Bethlehem in the second semester of the academic year 2021/2022. The mixed method (quantitative - qualitative) was used, and the data was collected through a questionnaire and focus groups.

The results of the study revealed that there was a positive effect of using the training program in enhancing the socio-emotional skills of the study participants and improving their level of psychological immunity and positive thinking.

The researcher recommended adopting the program approved in this study by the competent authorities, especially Palestinian universities, and preparing guidance and training programs for university students to enhance their social and emotional skills. In addition, the researcher recommended preparing training programs for university staff to enhance the use of socio-emotional learning skills.

The examination committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Gultan Hegazy (supervisor and chairman of the committee), Dr. Mahmoud Obaid (internal examiner) as well as Prof. Dr. Youssef Awad and Prof. Dr. Kamal Salama (external examiners).
