University Hosts Tunisian Thinker Yousef Sidiq in Lecture entitled "Holiness Concept in Paganism and the Three Monotheistic Religions"

Arab American University hosted the Tunisian Thinker Yousef Sidiq in a specialized lecture on anthropology in human cultures, entitled “Holiness Concept in Paganism and the Three Monotheistic Religions”

This lecture comes as part of Palestine’s Traditional and Spiritual Music Festival entitled “A Musical Journey”, organized by Al Kamandjati Foundation in a number of Palestinian villages and towns.

Arab American University President Prof. Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri welcomed the gust in presence of C Executive Officer of Al Kamandjati Foundation Eyad Estiti, Faculty of Arts Dean Dr. Mohammad Dawabsheh and Media Professor at Media and Arabic Language department Dr. Said Abu Ma’la.

Arab American University athletics male team (Field) won the first place in Palestinian Universities Championship that was organized on Sunday 09.04.2017 at Al-Najah University fields, Nablus.

The results were:

Ameer Tarbieh 1^st Place - Triple jump

Hamam Kana’neh 1^st Place - Javelin

Hamam Kana’neh 1^st Place – Long jump

Hilal Ghalyeh 3^rd Place - Shot put

For the female category, they achieved the following places:

University Hosts Said Nafa in Lecture Entitled "Palestinian Druze Belonging and Originality"

Arab American University hosted a lecture entitled “Palestinian Druze Belonging and Originality”, by Former Arab Deputy from the 1948 lands and President of the National Movement for Communication Deputy Said Nafa, attended by a number of university students, faculty members and administrative staff.

University President Prof. Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri welcomed Deputy Nafa and his accompanying delegation, giving him an explanation about the university, its faculties, specialties, bachelor and master academic programs and its current and future plans. The university seeks to offer new modern knowledge and to be a bright hope for the future, manage national unity and build Palestine.

AAU Organizes Lecture on Cybercrime and Prevention Mechanism

Arab American University in cooperation with Jenin Governorate Police Directorate organized a lecture for its students on cybercrime, mechanism of fighting it and prevention of blackmailing.

Speakers presented a definition of cybercrimes, pointing to the rise in number of registered cases due to widespread use of the internet, social media and increased number of users. Mentioning, real stories of people who were blackmailing victims, stressing on the need to be careful, not to publish any personal and private materials online or exchange them on social media platforms and in case of blackmailing the victim should head to the police to file a complaint that handled in confidentiality.

By hosting two representatives of the Cartoonists Rights Network International (CRNI)

AAUP Media and Arabic Language Department at Faculty of Arts organizes an introductory session, for its students, on the art of caricature, its techniques and Palestinian history // background by hosting the Cartoonists Rights Network International representatives Mohammed Sabaneh and Ramzi Al Taweel.

Media Professor in the Department of Arabic Language and Media Said Abu Maalla opened the meeting, welcoming audience and stressing on the importance of the caricature art in delivering messages, noting this type of art plays an important role as a tool for communication among communities of different cultures, ideas, languages and nationalities. A number of cartoon artists have been attacked and others have given their lives to this art and lost the bet, Naji Al Ali is a model.

University Holds Session for Students and Employees on Amideast Scholarships

Arab American University in cooperation with Amideast Organization organized session on Fulbright Scholarship presented by the organization and it lasts for two years from 2018 till 2020. In presence of Vice President for Planning and Development Affairs Dr. Osama Salameh, Amideast Scholarship Program Officer Arwa Jaber and her assistant Hiba Hamoury.

The session aims to introduce students to the scholarship requirements, recognition standards and applying mechanism to the scholarship targeting graduates, upcoming grads, research and teaching assistants and lab technicians at the university.

AAU Holds Orientation Meeting for the Fourth Batch of MBA Program Students in Ramallah Campus

AAUP Faculty of Higher Education in Ramallah campus held an orientation meeting for the new Fourth Batch of students enrolled in the MBA Program implemented in partnership with Indiana University in Pennsylvania, USA.

During the meeting, the university Faculty of Higher Education Dean Dr. Abdulrahman Abu Libdeh welcomed the students and congratulated them on getting the acceptance to the MBA Program implemented in partnership with Indiana University. He gave the students a number of special instructions on student registration, study duration, grading system, number of credit hours and study plan.

University Honors its Employee Ahmad Abu Obaid

Arab American University President Prof. Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri honored University Website employee Mr. Ahmad Abu Obaid, in presence of university president vices and assistants, for his efforts to build and develop the university new website released on 16/12/2016.

Prof. Dr. Abu Zuhri presented the University Shield to the employee Abu Obaid, saying “This honoring comes within to encourage the University staff to continue their excellence and creativity each in their fields”.

Abu Obeid thanked the University for honoring him and stressed that this honoring is a motivation to offer the best in his work always.

University Welcomes Qadura Faris in Lecture on Prisoner Movement

Arab American University Faculty of Arts hosted the Chairman of Palestinian Prisoner's Club Qadura Faris in a lecture he gave on prisoners’ conditions and stability for the prisoner movement course students.

Faculty of Arts Dean Prof. Dr. Mohammad Dawabsheh started the lecture, introducing Faris’s life path in defending prisoners’ issues and expose the occupation practices against them.

At first, Faris praised the Arab American University, stressing it confirmed the Palestinian ability to build homeland for all and create bright future for people who sacrificed for decades. He spoke about the university's experience importance and spread its build and model determination homeland institutions.

AAU Faculty of Law Implements Specialized Trainings on Death Penalty within “Karama” Project

In cooperation with the Italian Development Cooperation

Faculty of Law organizes a series of specialized training courses for its students on death penalty as part of “Karama” project to enhance and consolidate of human rights, in cooperation with the Italian Development Cooperation.

This project, one year long, comes after signing a MoU between AAUP and the Cooperation targeting Faculty of Law students in order to introduce them to the legal guarantees to imply death penalty in the presence of various Palestinian legal systems.
