The Student Rida Abu Shaikhah

The Student Rida Abu Shaikhah from Faculty Engineering and Information Technology at AAUP was chosen as the Best Campus Director Globally within the Hult Prize Contest last week.

Rida Abu Shaikhah participated in the contest for this year with team of students, and the team qualified in the contest that was held in London.

Hult Prize is the world's largest student entrepreneurship competition that aims to establish profit companies to face one of the societal challenges and to engage students in creating positive change. In more than 200 universities participate in this competition and is held in more than 150 countries. where the winning team receives an award of 1 ML dollars.

AAUP Hosts a Table Tennis Championship for Males and Females

The University hosted the Central Table Tennis Championship for males and females, organized by the Ministry of Education, as part of the ministry's plan for student sports activities 2019/2020.

Mr. Arif Asayrah Head of sports activities at Ministry of Education said that "The championship was organized in two groups," The first group contains 8 districts from the north of West Bank and organized in the sports hall at AAUP. The second group contains 9 districts for the middle and south of West Bank organized at Hebron Municipality Sports Hall, where first and second group are to be qualified in the Golden Square within the sixth Olympic Sports School Week, which closes at the beginning of April of next year 2020.

AAUP Hosts Events Supporting Cancer Awareness

AAUP Hosts Events Supporting Cancer Awareness under the slogan of "Let the universe hear" In the presence of the Governor of Jenin, Major General Akram Rajoub, and officials and civil figures.

The activities started with a scout march organized by Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences in partnership with the Palestinian Medical Relief. Then a speech assuring the importance supporting patients psychologically and financially, praising the role of supporting institutions and thanking AAUP for hosting such activities and events.

A football match was held among university students to support cancer patients. The children were able to participate in the match with penalty kicks.

The Delegation of Verona Academy interview students who enrolled in the BA program for Interior Architecture

The delegation also listened to the students and why they have chosen to study interior architecture, and answered their inquiries about the training and job opportunities.

The students expressed their happiness to join the program, which will offer them job opportunities in this field accordingly to meet with the Palestinian market needs.

AAUP Organizes an Awareness Workshop About " Cyber-Security and Its Risks "

Haseeb Al-Sabbagh IT Center for Excellence in cooperation with Faculty of Engineering and IT, organized an Awareness workshop about “cybersecurity and its risks" presented by Eng. Montaser Bedair, General Manager of IT Security C&T.

During the workshop, Mr. Bedair presented the main challenges of cybersecurity, and how the institutions can handle these risks and cyber threats, especially electronic hacking (Hacking) and ways to address them. As he mentioned the job opportunities and career path of cybersecurity in Palestine for students and graduates.

On the other hand, Arab American University team won first place in the "8th Student Creativity Conference" organized by Palestine Polytechnic University, with their project called GREEN.

Faculty of law at AAUP organized a conference for The Right of Peaceful Assembly in Palestinian Territories with the cooperation of Shams Center for Human Rights and Democracy.

VP of Academic Affairs Dr. Muayad Abu Saah welcomed the attendance and said that AAUP continues to support such conferences hoping to sum up with effective recommendations where AAUP will support these recommendations for the benefit of Palestine, thanking all those who contributed in the success of the conference.

Part of the novel launching

Writer Yasser Al Masri launched his novel The Hoopoe’s Vamp "Victims" at AAUP during a ceremony organized by Community Affairs Dept, in the presence representatives of Palestinian universities, public institutions, officials from security services, and university students.

The novel “The Hoopoe’s Vamp” It focused on criticizing many issues related to the public and political life of the Palestinian situation in all its organizational and partisan components.

Part of the Seminar

Biological Sciences and Biotechnology Dept. the Faculty of Science AAUP held a scientific seminar about “Biological forensic analysis” its importance & DNA usage, presented by the Lecturer Mr. Mahmoud Abed, a Consultant working with the UN Office for Drugs and Crime, also a Specialist in Biological Forensic Analysis and Head of Life Sciences Dept. at the Canadian Police Foundation, Quebec Region, Canada

The seminar was attended by Faculty members, administrative staff, and university students, where Dr. Firas Al-Batta opened the seminar and assured the importance of this seminar.

Mr. Abed said: “Forensic science is one of the leading applied sciences in the service of human community to help achieve justice, especially Forensic Biology \ Forensic Sciences. This specialty has evolved over the past years, especially in terms of DNA forensics with the development of genetic material technology.

AAUP Organizes a Workshop for Students About the Legal Forms of Dealing With Crimes

The Deanship of Student Affairs in cooperation with the Police College organized a workshop for its students about the legal forms of dealing with crimes at the college headquarters in Jericho, this workshop aims to raise awareness and knowledge of students regarding this subject.

The organizers of the workshop stressed the importance of such workshops to educate students in enhance security and safety among them, pointing out the importance of organizing several awareness sessions about public safety, ways of providing security and safety, and how to cooperate with the police and the security services.

A Discussion Session at AAUP About the Importance of Establishing a Palestinian National Archive

The Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center at AAUP in Ramallah hosted the German director Monica Moore, one of the pillars of the struggle cinema that came to Lebanon in the 1970s and was engaged in the resistance film movement established by the Palestine Films Unit of the PLO.

Monica Moore is currently working to preserve the oral history and audiovisual testimony of an important era of the Arab-Israeli conflict from 1978-1983, by digitizing more than 100 hours of films made with a 16mm camera.

The discussion took place in the presence of representatives of archival institutions from various sectors on the possibility of establishing a public, accessible and free national archive.
