AAUP announces the first student academic mobility with Powiślańska University in Poland

AAUP sent two of its students from the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences (Nor AlDeen Abu Hasan and Husam Frehat) to Powiślańska University in Poland to study for the fall semester of the academic year 2019/2020. This chance was given to students through the student academic mobility that is provided by Erasmus Plus program.

This opportunity of student mobility will enable students to learn more about other cultures during their time in Poland for four months. They will get to know other students of different backgrounds and cultures and this will strengthen their personalities and teach them new skills.

This mobility through Erasmus Plus was the first in AAUP, and it is just the beginning of other academic, staff and student mobility in the future.

AAUP Organizes "HULT PRIZE" Competition

Hassib Al-Sabbagh Center for Information Technology Excellence in AAUP has organized HULT Prize 2020 competition with the participation of 25 teams from all faculties. This competition helps participants to try to find solutions and create entrepreneurial companies with positive effect on the environment.   

Dr. Nizam Diab- the VP for Training Affairs started the competition, which was organized with HULT Prize team, by welcoming guests and judges committees which contain professional members from universities and Palestinian institutions. Dr. Diab explained that this competition is a great opportunity for ambitious students and will give them the chance to come up with creative projects that can compete internationally. He also talked about the importance of creativity for Palestinian students and youth, and asserted that this is the path to success.

AAUP Organizes a Cultural Competitive Contest between Faculties Entitled " Minds Challenge "

The Deanship of Student Affairs in AAUP organized a cultural competition entitled “Minds Challenge” between faculties. The competition aims to improve students’ general information and create competitive environment. The first round was between the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology and the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences.   

D. Bashar Draghmeh- the Dean of the Deanship of Student Affair started the competition by asserting on the importance of the extracurricular activities that help in improving students personalities. He said that the goal of this activity is to explore the mind abilities and the general information of students. It will also help in strengthening relations between faculties and creating a team to represent the university in any future local or regional cultural competitions.

AAUP Organizes a Lecture Entitled " Arab Islamic Medicine: between Traditions and Scientific Research "

The Faculty of Sciences in AAUP has organized a lecture entitled “Arab Islamic Medicine: between Traditions and Scientific Research” and hosted Dr.Bashar Sa’d – a Researcher in Biology and member of the Faculty of Sciences staff. The lecture was attended by Deans, Head of Departments and university students.

Dr. Seba Shank – the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences started the lecture by welcoming the audience and explaining that this lecture is one of the series lectures that will be organized by the scientific committee of the faculty. Those lectures enhance the scientific relations between other departments and faculties in the university. Dr. Shanak also introduced Dr. Bashar Sa’d indicating that he was one of the first staff who joined AAUP, he has many scientific researches and hold the degree of professorship.

Interior Architecture Students in a Field Trip to Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center

Students of the Interior Architecture program in AAUP that is offered as collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Verona – Italy, organized a field trip to “The Palestinian artist Mira Tamara exhibition” in Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center in Ramallah. The visit contributes in enhancing the practical side of their specialization and it is part of the students’ project in the Design Elements course.

Eng. Rinad Shqairat, who teaches the “Design Elements and Forming” course at AAUP said that: “this visit aims to enhance the practical side of what students have learned theoretically. It helps students to know the main elements that form art, and so enables students to analyze and understand arts, and this will broaden their way of thinking and understanding.”

AAUP Organizes an Electoral Debate for Arabic Language and Media Students to Form a Pictorial Syndicate for Youth Journalists

AAUP and the Palestinian Youth Association for Leadership and Rights Activation- PYALARA have organized an electoral debate for Arabic Language and Media students. This debate was organized in partnership with the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate and the Central Elections Committee and aims to form a pictorial syndicate for youth journalists.

PYALARA has launched this initiative entitled “Communication”, aiming to engage youth in the syndicate work by forming pictorial syndicates in the Palestinian universities.

AAUP Hosts Al Mostaqbal Volleyball Team with Special Needs for a Friendly Match

In the International Day of Disabled Persons 2019, AAUP hosted Al Mostaqbal volleyball team with special needs from Nablus to play a friendly match against a team from the Faculty of Sports Sciences.

The match was a friendly game full of happiness, love and competition between both teams. Dr. Saba’ Jarrar- the Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences said: “this friendly match was a celebration in the International Day of Disabled Persons (2019) and it is a message from AAUP to all the disabled persons telling them that you are part of us and we are part of you, we are glad to organize activities with you and for you. You have contributed in building this nation and we are proud of you. AAUP welcomes you always to participate in the different activities or to study here.”

Students  during their “Let’s See a Movie” project discussion

The Deanship of Student Affairs in AAUP organized a project entitled “Let’s See a Movie” under collaboration with “Shashat Woman Cinema”. This project enhances students’ capabilities in group discussions and presentations, and it enables them to actively contribute in building a democratic community that respects human rights and diversity.

After discussing the movie “Kilimanjaro Girls” for director Maisa AlSha’er, the student Nermeen Abu Tbaikh- student at the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences said that she appreciates this opportunity that enabled her to stand and talk in front of audience. She said that this project is good for teaching them how to do time management and run discussions by asking and answering questions. It encouraged audience to express their opinions and convince others.

هيئة الأمم المتحدة للمرأة UN Women تختار أستاذة من الجامعة لتمثيل فلسطين في الندوة الدولية رفيعة المستوى في روما لتعزيز مشاركة المرأة في عمليات صنع القرار

UN Women has chosen a professor from AAUP to represent Palestine in a high-level international symposium in Rome that aims to enhance the participation of women in the decision making processes.

UN Woman, the global champion for women, has chosen Dr. Dalal Iriqat - a professor in the Conflict Resolution and Strategic Planning programs in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in AAUP to represent Palestine in the high-level international seminar in Rome.

Signing the MoU between AAUP and the Ministry of Communication

Prof. Ali Zeidan AbuZuhri- the University President and Dr. Ishaq Seder- the Minister of Communication and Information Technology signed a MoU to collaborate in the joint fields and enhance the strategic relations between both parties for future projects.

The agreement contained the exchange of experts between the parties in the fields of Computer Engineering, Networks, Information Technology and Electronic Applications and Services. Also both parties will work on joint scientific studies and research projects, in addition to organizing conferences, activities and initiatives to achieve their goals.
