Arab American University

18 Years of Establishment

More than 20 young men and women sing with symphony and harmony “O My country we write your Name”, where the coach of the choir of Arab American University Mr. Louai Bilawi says his orders to repeat over and over again the sentence to achieve the symphony and harmony, which makes them complete "... On the sun when it fades."

The choir is preparing for intensive weekly trainings to present its upcoming annual concert. Belawi said he did not expect this harmony among its young people. "They came from different geographical and cultural backgrounds, but music, as well as the university, is capable of loading those energies and talents and transforming them into creativity."

The historic areas of Palestine from which the members of the choir are presented come from Jenin, Jerusalem, Arraba al-Batuf, Hebron, Baqa al-Gharbiya, Daliyat al-Carmel, the Negev and the Golan Heights.

A team of students from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University was qualified for the second phase of the Palestinian start-up support program "PASS", in addition to Arab American University, many universities at the national level has participated as: Jerusalem University, Birzeit University, The idea of the project is to design a device that measures and analyzes ECG signals later, using data mining techniques to predict the patient's cardiac arrhythmias and to find a cure for them before complications occur.

The project, represented by the students Abdul Salam Mansour, Mukhlis Turkman and Sawahra, will receive a funding of an amount of US $ 7,000 for the development of the initial and final models of the system, as well as financial models and studies for the project, work plan and feasibility study. This comes within the framework of the program implemented by Leaders Foundation and the funding of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the participation of Hassib Al-Sabbagh Center for Information Technology Excellence at the University.

Part of the Event

The University celebrated the International Day for People with Special Needs, by organizing various events held by at Occupational Therapy Department at the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, in order to educate students in the program and the local community regarding the needs of this group of all age.​

The Head of the Occupational Therapy Department Dr. Waleed Jarjoura, said that the events included an exhibition of rehabilitation and therapeutic tools for physical and developmental disabilities for children and adults, in addition organizing three seminars in which the president of the "Ana Qader" Association was hosted by Lamees Habibullah from the 48 territories, where she presented the services provided by the Association for people with special needs.

Part of the exhibition

The Deanship of Student Affairs at Arab American University organized in cooperation with the Student Union Council, a shopping exhibition aimed for the university students, to introduce national products and emphasizing the need to preserve the Palestinian heritage.​

The Assistant Dean of Student Affairs Ali Zakarneh said that the exhibition includes heritage products, stationery and national products. The exhibition will go to student funds. The exhibition is an annual protocol organized to introduce students to the most prominent Palestinian companies that is now competing with other products.

The CEO of the Palestine Exchange presents a lecture to MBA students at the University

The CEO of the Palestine Stock Exchange Mr. Ahmed Awaida visited Arab American University campus in Ramallah to present a lecture to MBA students about advanced data analysis, Where MBA program is a joint program between Arab American University in collaboration with Indiana University in Pennsylvania, USA. The lecture was supervised by Dr. Faisal Awartani.

The guest was welcomed by the academic advisor to the university's board of directors Dr. Walid Dieb, and the Dean of Faculty of Graduate Studies, Dr. Abdulrahman Abu Lebdih, where they discussed during the meeting the prospects of joint cooperation between the Palestine Stock Exchange and the University.

Geographic Information Systems Day 2018 was launched at Arab American University, organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, under the patronage of the Minister of Local Government Dr. Hussein Al-A'araj, entitled "The role of geospatial information in sustainable development".

In the presence of the President of the University Prof. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri, along with the Governor of Jenin, Major General Akram Rajoub, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University, Dr. Mohammad Hamarsheh, the Head of GIS Department in Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University Dr. Faisal Sabah, In various governorates of the country, representatives of governmental and private institutions and private sectors, and a number of members of the academic and administrative bodies and university students.

Part of the Seminar

Amsterdam European Studies Center at University of Amsterdam hosted Dr. Dalal Irekat Professor Assistant of Strategic Planning and Conflict Resolution at Arab American University to participate in a seminar entitled "The 25th Anniversary of Oslo Convention and the European Initiatives," in the presence of a group of politicians, decision-makers, researchers and graduate students in political science at the University of Amsterdam.

Dr. Dalal Irekat in her lecture focused on the role of the European Union towards the Palestinian-Israeli conflict since Oslo, from a Palestinian perspective. As she focused on the various initiatives and financial aids that reflect the role of the European Union was only through financial aid spent on building the institutions of the Palestinian state has not been limited to the slogans of governance, transparency, reform, women and youth.

The Arab American University hosted the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Sulaiman Zuhairi in a lecture organized by the Assistant President Office for Community Affairs, that aimed students from Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology.

The lecture was opened by Dr. Iyad Dalbeh, the Assistant President for Community Affairs. He said that the university hosts experts and specialists to transfer their practical experiences to the students in order to benefit from them in practical life.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Sulaiman Zuhairi said Arab American University has joined the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), where the university will benefit in terms of scientific research training, both academically and students.

Part of the Lecture

The President of Arab American University Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri welcomed the Executive Chairman of the Industrial Cities and Industrial Areas Authority of the Ministry of National Economy, Dr. Ali Shaath, who visited the university to present a lecture for students specialization in geographic information systems GIS about the relationship of specialization in industrial cities.

During the reception Prof. Abu Zuhri talked about the university, its academic programs in bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, and the vision of the university in enhancing cooperation with national institutions in fields of common interest. Geographic information as a specialization of the present and future, and recognizes its importance in its overlap in many vital areas in Palestine.

The Researcher Aseel Kmal from Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at Arab American University, received the Scotland award for City Planning using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). She presented her master's thesis at the University of Dundee, one of the best universities in the world. The title of her thesis was "Using Geographic Information Systems Techniques in Assessing the Possibility and Accessibility of Entering Green Places in Dundee".

Kmal concluded with a master's degree in excellence. Her research focused on the mechanism of employing geographic information systems in evaluating the accessibility and possibility of entering public gardens places and green spaces in Dundee city for the sake of self-recreation, reducing stress and maintaining the mental and physical health of the residents of the region.
